maintains his white long sleeve button shirt, pants and shoes from
his original outfit (minus both his tie and vest) which his button shirt has been tied to his waist.
He is now seen wearing a maroon tank top and white wristbands on both
of his wrists and also gains a gun holster from his right thigh where he
keep his handgun. The gun holster that he wears carried over to Retsu
in SuperNOVA2 and onwards when he wears his alternate and primary

His festival outfit is shown in the finale of DDRMAX who has him wearing a dark blue Japanese military jacket with a brown belt that is tucked into his jacket. Underneath is a maroon tank top from his 4thMIX battle outfit, dark blue military pants and black knee high boots. His outtfit that is based off Hajime Saito from the anime, Samurai X.
In DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE!, his 4thMIX appearance has been updated and his formal vest and pants are now black instead of dark gray and the black linings on his pants are not seen but maintains his button shirt, tie and shoes from his original outfit. In two episodes, he was not seen without the vest and tie and his white long sleeve button shirt that he wears is loose.
His alternate appearance was his 4thMIX outfit and his white button shirt changed to navy blue, his vest and pants are white and his neck tie is red but maintains his black shoes from his original outfit.
Throughout Rage's missions, Akira is shown wearing three additional outfits due to his appearance in Ultramix 4.
His second outfit is his alternate appearance in DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE! but with minor changes. The button shirt that he wears is now black instead of navy blue and his white formal vest and pants along with his red tie are retained and his black shoes changed to a matching white leather shoes to match his outfit. He also wears a black and gray sunglasses while wearing this outfit and his hair is brown.
In the fan anime series, he retains his original black hair instead of brown in the game while wearing his second outfit in Ultramix 4 which makes his appearance becomes a mixture between both his alternate appearance and his second outfit. He also wears this outfit during the prom in Emi's school.
He was later seen in his third outfit which is a blue long sleeve button Cheongsam with a golden dragon design at the right side of his front shirt and it's full body design at the back with white folded sleeves at the edge of his sleeves, black Chinese pants with white folded sleeves at the edge of his pants and black sneakers with white soles.
This is his casual outfit and was given to him by Ling/Cow-Ko during their stay in Beijing with Rage and Retsu.
His fourth and last outfit is a white and gray futuristic suit with a dark blue tie on the collar as his suit pants has thick black lines in each sides of his suit and a matching white futuristic boots with two dark blue lines in each sides of his boots, He has a sign of "SP" at the upper back on his suit and his hair becomes purple.
In the fan anime series, Akira also wears a white and purple visor to match his fourth outfit while he and Yuni are posing their introductions in their futuristic outfits during Honey's night fashion show and later aids Rage, Retsu and B in fighting against the mafia guards who attempts to assassinate Honey. He also reveals to both Rage and Retsu that his fourth outfit that he wears is made by Ling and she's the person who dyed his black hair to purple making his hair becomes dark purple as well as Yuni who also dyed her blonde hair to pink. Much to Rage's chagrin.
When Rage was targeted by the mafia organization where he leads along with Retsu and Kari, he was seen wearing a camoflauge tank top, olive green cargo pants and black and green combat boots.
During the infiltration of the mafia organization, he was now seen wearing the updated 4thMIX battle outfit as his white long sleeve button shirt is now tied at the right side to his waist, his tank top becomes dark red, his dark gray pants is replaced with black fitted denim pants and his black shoes is replaced with black and silver metal combat boots. He also wears black combat gloves instead of white wristbands and the color of his gun holster changed to brown. His outfit nearly resembles Tokiya Mikagami's battle outfit in Flame of Recca and the color scheme of his outfit is based off Tao Ren in Shaman King.
In DDR X through the earlier parts of DDR 2014, Akira maintains his updated appearance as his primary outfit has minor changes.
He now wears a jet black formal suit jacket under a white long sleeve button shirt with a gray tie on the collar, matching black pants and shoes which he continues to serve as Yuni's bodyguard.
His battle outfit in DDR X has him wearing a dark red leather vest with an extended collar under a pale blue sleeveless shirt, charcoal gray denim pants and maintains his black sneakers with white soles from his third outfit in Ultramix 4. He also wears a black shoulder band at the right side of his shoulder, his black gloves became fingerless gloves and the gun holster on his right thigh reverts back to the original black from his battle outfit in 4thMIX.
His outfit is a mixture between his updated 4thMIX battle outfit and his third outfit in Ultramix 4 and the denim pants that he wears reminiscing the color of his pants from his updated primary outfit in Ultramix 4. He wears this during the infiltration against the X-Pac organization after saving Rage and Retsu from being killed by Ishthar's soldiers.
In DDR2014 movie and the TV series, his outfit incorporates both his 4thMIX outfit and his DDR X battle outfit. He was now seen wearing a dark blue cowboy vest with an off-white long sleeve dress shirt which is folded below his elbows, gray denim pants with a black belt to his waist and black combat shoes. He now gains an extra gun holster on his left thigh where he keeps his back up gun and he is not seen wearing a tie. His outfit is based off Nagisa Iwashiro of Battle Arena Toshinden 3 and the color scheme of his outfit is based on his fourth outfit in Ultramix 4.
This is his replacement outfit after his primary outfit is ruined due to the explosion while escorting Yuni's parents to safety and suffers a mild concussion. In the TV series, he is not seen without the cowboy vest as it reveals to wear him a brown shoulder holster in each sides underneath his vest.
In DDR A and A20, Akira retains his DDR X outfit. In the fan anime series, Akira wears between his primary outfit in the previous games and his main outfit in DDR X. His previous outfit was updated as his formal vest is black but it was charcoal gray at the back and is not seen wearing his tie.

He also maintains his fighting abilities in DDR X and onwards. He is also an excellent driver as seen throughout DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE as he drives his car from his home country and later in DDR 2013 movie where he drives a plane to take them to EMTI and a space jet to rescue Emi in Gideon's Space Station.
Character and Personality:
Akira is described as a proud and strong person who protects Yuni from any disputes and conflicts. He also has a constant problem with Yuni who sneaks away at her mansion or her resthouse in DDR City to hangs out with her friends. In DDR X, he continues to serve as Yuni's bodyguard and mostly follows her after she sneaks away at her mansion to buy Rage's famous takoyaki.
In the fan anime series, he maintains his personality in the games and was overprotective to Yuni when she goes with them as well as his constant problems with her from sneaking away at her mansion or her resthouse. He also befriends Rage and Retsu after saving Yuni from being attacked inside of her resthouse and becomes their prominent ally for the rest of the series. In DDR 2013 movie, he decides to go with them after Yuni requests him to aid them in saving her friend Emi from being kidnapped by Gideon and his space station.
He has four running gags in the series has him being extremely sensitive towards women as it shows in DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE! where Ling is interested towards him due to his good looks and his height which she tries to flirt him the same way as she did to Rage. Second is showing his stage fright towards crowded people when Yuni, Alice and Kari pushed him on the stage after winning the popularity contest which makes him laugh in shyness but keeping his dislike towards crowded people who likes him from winning. Third, when Rage remarks him from hanging out with younger women including Yuni which makes him angrily annoyed and lastly his physical appearance where he shows his revealing side (most likely either he is in sleeveless or shirtless). This is demonstrated when Tracy happily sees his half-naked appearance and being teased by Yuni when he shows his sexiness towards other girls causing him to be blushed in embarassment which he simply denies it. His revealed appearance also causes the disappointment to both Rage and Retsu who were jealous to see his muscular approach such as Beechun informs them about his appearance, both of them keeps stuttering on his back twice and gossiping him for being a show off much to his annoyance.
Akira portrays as a bodyguard to Yuni who protects her from disputes and conflicts but having problems with her to sneak away to dance or to hangs out with her friends. From DDR X and on, he continues to serve as Yuni's bodyguard and mostly follows her after she sneaks away at her mansion to buy Rage's takoyaki.

Fighting Capacity:
Like Rena in DDR X2 who practices martial arts, Retsu is trained in traditional karate in a corresponding course by his father at the young age. He is also unbeatable similar to Rage as he easily knocks his opponents with either punches and kicks. Aside from his fighting prowess, he is extremely capable of hacking different computers and electronic devices as well as different various systems with the use of his mini-computer. He can also shoot his handgun efficiently due to his role as an agent which Akira taught him to shoot firearms. He is also strategic and very cunning to his enemies when he easily senses their presence. Altogether, He is the most intellectual ally to Rage's group.
Character and Personality:
Retsu is described as cool and calculated person with a serious ego and a borderline sociopathic (as stated by Rage throughout the series that he is very snobbish). His snobbishness and his ego sterns from his father, Tetsuro due to his intellectual prowess as he uses this attitude to mock Rage's horrible temper which makes the latter angrily annoys from his actions. He also uses this against Zero after seeing his rude personality which makes the latter gets a heated rivalry with him even Akira knows him for being a snobbish speaker. He is also an introvert throughout the series until he started to have a relationship with Rena in DDR X2 and onwards. In SuperNOVA, when he takes undercover from the enemy, he becomes cold and distant which results him and Rage are fighting in the rain before he tells his reasons for his actions. When he fights against his enemies, he is also brave and confident man like Rage which he aids him if its more enemies he was facing. He also strikes his friendship with Emi, Yuni, Gus and Julio. He also shows his dislike for stereotypes as seen in DDR Party Collection as both of his parents are having a stereotypical strict father and a doting mother. He is the only person to be dragged and push by Rage when he was focused on playing with his mini computer and his PDA when they are doing anything important or hanging out with them for an investigation. He along with Garuda and Emi are the only people to call Rage his given name while Emi calls his given name a few times when she mostly calls his nickname.
He has two running gags in the series where he was frequently getting trouble towards most girls whenever he tries to date with them. Especially when some girls that he was dating shows their aggressiveness towards him until he meets Rena in DDR X2.
His other running gag has him being obsessed in playing Tekken series of fighting games and apparently becomes a big fan on the main protagonist and anti hero, Jin Kazama who actually plays as him in the game and is constant to tell the whole Tekken storyline to Rage and Emi. In DDR X, he shows his obsession to both Rage and Julio when he plays the sixth Tekken game and mimicking Jin's quotes from his win animations. Interestingly, he also shares his fighting style as Traditional Karate as seen in the opening sequence of DDR EXTREME where he performs Jin's Evil Intent and Double Lift Kick to his enemy in sillouette.
Retsu portrays as a intellectual student and a genius hacker under the alias "The Great Hacker", who is a whiz with computers with an ego as opposed to Rage's temper. Later in both SuperNOVA and SuperNOVA2, he works as a CIA agent after his graduation in EMTI and finally in DDR X and onwards, he was promoted to become a federal agent from the intelligence division.
