Garuda (fan anime)

Garuda Renken Itoh- is a supporting character in the DDR fan anime series. He is the director and chief scientist of EMTI and Rage's paternal grandfather. He makes his debut in Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMIX.

Appearance:

Garuda appears to have a slicked back shoulder length brown hair which is dyed in red orange, brown eyes and a moustache. His outfits are commonly seen wearing different kinds of jacket from season to season.


In 2ndMIX up to DDRMAX2- He wears an openly pale yellow button shirt which is folded below the elbows. underneath a white short sleeve shirt, dark green pants and black shoes. He also wears this in the finale in DDRMAX2 during the credits while he narrates the after the events of the incident.

In 4thMIX up to the midway and the finale of DDR Party Collection- He wears a gray and black formal suit jacket under a white long sleeve button shirt. He maintains his pants and shoes in both 2nd and 3rdMIX as his collar of his jacket is black. The color scheme of his jacket was the color of Rage's gray and black sneakers that he wears in his appearances in 3rdMIX and 4thMIX.

In 5thMIX up to DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE- He wears a brown bomber jacket with a light tan collar and the folden sleeves. Underneath is a red short sleeve shirt, cobalt blue denim pants and black shoes. His alternate appearance in EXTREME 2/STRIKE is his 5thMIX outfit as his bomber jacket becomes a darker shades of blue, his pants becomes light gray and his color of his shirt is now yellow.

In DDR EXTREME and the first half of DDR Party Collection- He wears a dark brown leather jacket under a yellow short sleeve shirt, dark gray pants and black loafers.

In DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA up to DDR X- His hair becomes darker and it lengthens his hair just below the shoulders and his red orange dyed hair becomes auburn as the roots of his gray hair is finally shown. he is mostly seen in a low ponytail.

In DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA and SuperNOVA2, He wears a black leather jacket under a pale yellow short sleeve shirt, pale blue pants and brown shoes. In his alternate appearance, Garuda wears a camoflauge short sleeved jacket with a sign of eagle wings in each side of his jacket which is tied in a black belt. Underneath is a dark green shirt, olive green cargo pants and black and green combat boots. He also wears this during the infiltration against the X-Pac organization in the near end of DDR X. In one episode where Afro is forced to fight in a tag team match while he was his tag team partner. He wears a pro wrestling attire.

In DDR X- Garuda now wears a dark blue sweater jacket under a gray undershirt, khaki pants and brown shoes.

In DDR X2 and X3- Garuda's low ponytail is changed into a slicked back in a ponytail and has a few fringe in each side of his head.

He wears a pale green short sleeve jacket under a white undershirt, light gray pants with faded designs in each leg and black shoes.

In DDR 2013 through DDR 2014 movie along in his crossover appearance- He wears a light blue denim blazer under a white undershirt, brown pants and black shoes. The color scheme of his outfit resembles Rage's primary outfit in DDR X.

When he was brainwashed, his brown eyes becomes red before Rage, Retsu and Akira frees him.

Fighting Capacity:
As mentioned by Rage in DDRMAX, Garuda is the master of martial arts where he masters different kinds of martial arts (Judo, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aikido and Kobojutsu) and Pro Wrestling as seen in SuperNOVA2. Garuda is able to dispatch multiple opponents at once. His greatest weakness was his stamina due to his age this shows in DDRMAX after defeating most of Schubert's black ops and finally in DDR X where he heavily trains his grandson Rage in the similation room which results him being collapsed from exhaustion.  

Character and Personality:
Garuda is described as a cynical and yet very serious person with a optimistic side who is a whiz on both science and technology as well as fighting against the enemies who threaten his friends and relatives alike. He also has a horrible temper which he uses to scold his grandson, Rage who keeps losing his temper towards him and tries to hijack most of his inventions that he created.  He is friends with the vice principal Liana, Janet, Maho, Naoki and his best friend and colleague, Afro (Disco). Afro also knows his problems in DDR 2014 which is revealed it to Rage that he was the person to have many issues from his entire life (This might be the reason the scientists, Gideon, Riko and later Dulton became his greatest enemies.)  He is also loves to make pranks where he tests his deadly inventions to work perfectly and most of the time he uses Rage as the subject which makes the latter ends up in a fury when he dangerously pranked him. He also loves to travel in different places as seen in his flashback where he is constantly visits the robot exhibits in his prime as well as a vigilante who does the self-investigation to find out the enemies' motives. Some other characters are making fun to call his name except Dread-Snake who calls him as "Professor", Retsu who is simply called him as "Sir Garuda" ("Garuda sensei" in Japanese), Akira simply calls him as "Professor Garuda", and his grandson Rage who calls him as, "grandfather" in SuperNOVA and onwards he simply calls him as "grandpa" or "gramps". 

His running gag in the series is to have him wooing with the ladies or female dancers and peeping other girls and acts like an old pervert which makes Rage brutally kicks his butt after seeing him doing it as he angrily states to him. "Urgh, No respect...?"


In DDR X2-X3, he shows his caring skills towards Rinon after she was repaired by him and forms a friendly bond with the two of them.

Garuda is portrayed as the intellectual old man who is the director and chief scientist in EMTI and also a vigilant grandfather to Rage. In DDR X3 and onwards, he and Afro founded the group called DDR Global Protectors to protect and save the Earth from being invade by their enemies and he is one of the founders alongside with him. In DDR2014, he is the main catalyst behind his kidnapping as Afro replaced him to sponsor the second EX Competition while in its TV series, He sponsors another EX competition in order to find Rinon which she was brainwashed by her own target, Dark Rinon.

Story Sypnosis:

Dance Dance Revolution
Garuda appears as a cameo in the finale of the series when he was talking to Afro from his cellphone.

2ndMIX
Garuda made his physical appearance in the 2ndMIX where Dread-Snake and Janet are the protagonists in this season where he serves as the superior to the two dancers to fight and deal against the rogue named Wyvern. He was mostly seen having a conversation with Afro after their reunion.

3rdMIX
"Well well well... I've ever seen a man who always ended up in a beat down..." 
 -Garuda as the Old Hermit when meeting with his grandson, Rage.

Garuda is not shown in the beginning of 3rdMIX before the midway episode as his grandson, Rage appears as the main protagonist and onwards. He only appears in the prequel, Crisis of EMTI.

Garuda's half of his face is shown as he observes the turn of the events and seeing that the aliens are gonna strike again in Earth. He made his physical appearance in the episode "The Heated Reunion" where he disguised himself as the Old Hermit in his own hideaway where he found his grandson, Rage who was drifted in the ocean, unconscious while wearing only a pair of boxers as his 3rdMIX clothes were encased in ice. Garuda realizes that one of the alien's henchmen ambushes them from the rear until Rage awakes in his unconscious state and noticed the old hermit's appearance and was two inches taller than him.     

Garuda knows his grandson's potential while
disguising as the old hermit as he uses his own invention to make a fire blast to melt the ice where his clothes were encased. This makes Rage get angry from his actions as he replies that he didn't burn his clothes only that he melted the ice from being encased. He then finally reveals himself much to Rage's surprise. He then explains to him that these people who attack them and being separated from his friends was the aliens from a different planet. He also tells him not to forget what he taught him how to fight trying to gain his fighting prowess and Rage agrees with him.

After the 3rd Competition has ended and Mameo is responsible for attacking them on purpose and shoots them with a acidic goo as they avoid and to see the tree is bursting with flames and seeing his plan to destroy it's inhabitants with acid goo. Garuda and the other dancers including Afro to deal against his minions as he shows his fighting abilities against them. He saves his grandson when the enemy tries to strike him from behind. After Rage defeated Mameo in the finale, He with Dread-Snake and Afro formed a group called "The Protectors of DDR City" and Rage was appointed as the leader and Garuda knows his grandson's leadership is the best thing to protect people from the enemy's attack.

4thMIX
"Looks like this competition is gotten worse as I expected." 
-Garuda as he watches the finals in the 4th Competition.

Garuda appears in 4thMIX and he was commonly seen wearing his lab coat while trying to order the lab scientists for the robot project and later he accepts Emi as Rage's girlfriend which Emi calls him as "Mr. Itoh." . In one of the filler episodes, Garuda is seen going to Hokkaido to visit the place where he and his late wife's memory keepsakes as Rage, Emi and Retsu are spying on him. When Rage finally reveals when he visits the cemetery, they were attacked by Kaiser's minions only to be repelled by the trio. Rage wanted to know who he was hanging with another woman. Garuda angrily tells him that the person that he visited was his late wife much to his shock. He then explains why he keeps on visiting in Hokkaido. He currently serves as a superior to Rage and the group during missions and infiltrate Kaiser's hideout and to stop Kaiser from causing the illness to his victims who were inflicted by him which he gives the communicator to Rage to inform him in his missions. Later on, he was seen watching his grandson and Emi competed in the 4th Competition and noticed of his grandson's weakness of being overconfident in winning and letting Emi down when she gets sick and vomit. This results them being in second place as Rage does not accept his defeat, walking away angrily leaving Emi behind.

After the 4th Competition when Kaiser was fused by his own monster after surviving the fall during the infiltration, Garuda knows that he is still alive and manages to escape with Liana, Evil-Zukin and Konsento: 03/2 and later Rage, Emi, Retsu, Kari and Yuni from it's onslaught as he fuses his institute similar to the other village being infused to death. Garuda knows how to purify the fusion is to make the divine explosives. After making the divine explosives, he also crafted the holy divine sword where it can cut through anything and is similar to the divine explosives which is made of anti-matter so that Kaiser's injuries will never regenerate permanently and has a button that can self-destruct by itself. He gives it to Rage before going inside the monster-fused Kaiser.

"You have to defeat Kaiser, Reiji. Once ya go inside the monster's body, we cannot contact each other. This is our last contact, I'm counting on ya." 
-Garuda while having the last contact with his grandson, Rage before departing.

Garuda gives Rage some advice after their loss in the 4th Competition and scolds him for his overconfidence and letting his girlfriend suffer from his actions. He tells him that it may loss their competition, but he needs to save the whole city. He is later seen in a helicopter with Liana and Kari and he finally contacts Rage one final time from his communicator and tells him to defeat Kaiser. After Kaiser's defeat and the city is finally saved and purified, Garuda watches all the people in DDR City were happy to be alive and to see Rage and the others were severely injured after the explosion. He is later seen watching his institute to be reconstucted by construction workers after the incident.

5thMIX
"I'm impressed that you worked on the enemy's side, Gideon. Perhaps, beatin' you with my robot would be pleasure to destroy ya." 
-Garuda to Gideon while hanging on Robo2001's wings.

Garuda returns in Dance Dance Revolution 5thMIX and falls victim on the paranoid agent named John Krueger the main antagonist in this season who wants him to create similations similar to the dance simulation games. When Rage defeats some of his men, Garuda discovers that he was victimized by him and always giving him death threats and claiming his institute by message. With no other choice, he reunites with Afro and Janet as both formed the team called Team Afro & Janet to compete in the 5th Competition. In the finals in the 5th Competition, Rage easily discovers his grandfather is with Afro and Janet and knowing that he was managing his team. However, John arrives in the scene along with his men. The finals became a do or die competition. If Rage wins, he will be executed. If he wins, they will claim his institute. With this, Afro's team won against Team Burning in which Rage was reluctantly wanted to save his grandfather's life by losing the game by force.

"I'm not gonna let ya claim my institute, Krueger. You plans are far from over. I will stop ya with this." 
-Garuda while confronting against John before the brawl.

After the 5th Competition has ended, Everyone including the students in EMTI and the dancers in the competition is gathered to stop John and his men from reclaiming the school as they infiltrate the main building. Garuda confronts John one final time when Rage and Retsu are here to help him as both engage in a brawl. John threatens to kill each of them as he targets Rage. Garuda manages to save his grandson by tackling him to the ground and he was shot on his right shoulder. Rage angrily loses his temper and seeing his grandfather been shot. He manages to defeat John in three blows and knocks him off to the roof and fall to his own death. After the incident, Rage calmly apologizes to his grandfather and finally accepts his defeat and Garuda accepts his apology and gives the check to him which he becomes the MVP of the dance game is worth over a three thousand yen which makes Rage very happy to him.

DDRMAX:
 "Your plans is to kill my friend, Afro. I know your practical motives. Killing business people is not enough to make yer big fortune into yer own greed. Looks like yer plans are far from over."
-Garuda while facing against Schubert Reinrich in the other side of the building.


In DDRMAX, Garuda is unaware of his grandson's actions earlier in this season where his friend Afro was been targeted by an ruthless organization called The Eagle Eye and wants to get his fortune by assassinating him.

In the episode "Beach Day in Okinawa", Garuda finally realizes that his friend is in danger which Maho tells him the whole thing. He angrily scolds Rage for not informing him after he tells him the truth. With that, he activates Robo2001 and wants to fight against the organization by aiding his grandson, Izam, and Retsu.

He then finally tells the whole story about how he encounters Schubert in the past 25 years.

In the near end of DDRMAX, instead to have a 6th Competition, it changes into a traditional japanese theater play during the one week Japan Day Festival. Garuda uses this as a trap to Schubert where they are actors in the play. By the time Schubert had enough of this, he shoots his gun in a warning shot causing other audience to flee. Garuda and Schubert face off as they fight in strong blows and multiple hand to hand combat. Although, Schubert tries to kill Disco by shot him in the head, Garuda tackles to save him as he was shot at the back. Rage became enraged as he defeat Schubert in a punch and kick combo and brutally beats him knocking him out on the wall. Rage sadly worries to his grandfather and acts stubborn to him as it reveals that he wears a bulletproof vest. Garuda continues to act in the play along with Afro while Rage and the group are having fun in the festival.

DDRMAX2
"This is going to be a dangerous game for Reiji, you two. His enemy is a very tough opponent to face. I'm sure he will have a chance to beat him." 
-Garuda to Retsu and Emi while treating Rage's serious injuries.

Garuda appears in DDRMAX2, where he provides himself as an investigator about the upcoming competition called the MAX competition instead of being the 7th Competition which Rage and Emi's new opponents are the downloaded characters from DDR PC and one of the teams is trying to injure the combatants. Garuda discovers his grandson is severely injured by a man named Izzy who attacks differently with different kinds of knives similar to Kari. With that he warns Emi and Retsu about him while treating his grandson's injuries prior to the competition. In the finals, when each of their partners are attacked with needles when they get low grades. Team Burning emerge victorious and Izzy was totally pissed as he left. Rage tells his grandfather to take care of Emi who is injured during the finals as he pursues Izzy until he found him in the rooftop of the building where they fight one on one.

"Impossible. You're supposed to be dead, Krueger!?" 
-Garuda after seeing John Krueger's spirit who emerges in Izzy's body. 

Garuda watches the scene as lightning begins to struck with Retsu, Emi and the other dancers saw this as she cheers Rage to fight. When Rage is about to be defeated by Izzy after an attempt to block most of his explosive knives and renders him with serious injuries as his clothes were in tatters (His dark red jacket that he wears were blown from the explosion.) Izzy's psyche tries to regain control of his body trying to stop from killing him as John Krueger's spirit finally emerges from his body rendering him unconscious. Rage was horrible shock to see him as well as Garuda. He wants to take revenge against Rage from killing him during the infiltration in EMTI. Rage tries to stand up and fight but being kneeled down due to his injuries. John tries to take it's opportunity to kill him only to be blocked by his late uncle's spirit who hunts John's spirit for causing all the chaos in Earth.  After the incident, Rage finally emerge as the victor and Emi was worried for him. Garuda angrily punches him in the head after trying to leave them behind in the end of the competition but Rage tells him that Izzy was possessed by John's spirit in order to kill him to which Garuda easily discovers and he also let Izzy to be free from being possessed after the incident.

DDR EXTREME
"It seems that our new adversaries are tryin' to get their pure melodic hearts. You have to be careful, cause these guys can hunt ya down."
-Garuda to Rage, Emi and Retsu in EMTI.  

Garuda returns as being the superior to Rage and the group in DDR EXTREME and knowing that their new adversaries are trying to hunt the pure melodic heart crystal where people actually loves the sound of different kinds of music. During the EXTREME competition, one of Yukihime's henchmen manage to hit Emi with a gun blaster causing her pure melodic heart crystal is revealed within her as they taken the crystal away from her and Rage was filled with revenge against them and wanted to get his girlfriend's crystal back from them.

When Rage finally confronts Yukihime which is the mastermind behind the attacks of her victims in every episode. Garuda is able to create a heatwave type magnetic blaster to make heatwaves and to defrost people who were inflicted from her power to manipulate ice as well as Retsu and the others are in freezing state. With the help of his invention, Yukihime is weaken with both heat and the sound of the flute that Rage is playing and allows him to finish her off with a powerful punch as she dissipates.

After retrieving Emi's pure melodic heart, Emi awakens and to see her parents, her brother Walt and Garuda as he tells him that Rage was there to retrieve her heart back and knowing that he did this for her sake while she was in a near-death state.

DDR Party Collection: 
"We came here to stop ya from disrupting the tournament! Now, let's fight them!" 
-Garuda with Tetsuro Kageyama and the other family clans before attacking the Gozaburo ninja clan from disrupting the dance battle between Team Best and Team Burning.

Garuda appears in DDR Party Collection and visits Retsu in the hospital after being attacked by one of the family clans. Kari discovers these family clan are based on Yin and Yang and is similar to that of the clock shape. He realizes these attacks are definitely caused only by one family clan. He then sends Rage and the group in Kyoto (Retsu's hometown) to meet the head of Kageyama clan which happens to be Retsu's father Tetsuro.

Tetsuro discovers these attacks are coming from the family clan called the Tsukihime clan which is a family ninja clan led by Minamoto Tsukihime. He brainwashed the half of the family clan to do his bidding to kill the other family clans which are peaceful clans living in other places in Japan.

When the tournament is underway, Garuda, Tetsuro and the other family clans infiltrate the Gozaburo clan where they disrupted the dance battle between Team Best and Team Burning with the help of Akira's warning shot from his pistol as Garuda manages to defeat the leader of the Gozaburo clan by removing the black crystal on the back of his neck. Garuda soon discovers the black crystal is made of black sand knowing the Tsukihime clan is behind the brainwashing.

Before Rage and the group infiltrates the Tsukihime household after the tournament has ended, Retsu has a conversation with Garuda as he expected that he's going to take an OJT in the United States as Garuda gives him the permission to go there in a week.

After the infiltration, Garuda was seen doing his paperwork as Rage arrives in the director's office and asks him where Retsu is. Garuda replies that he's already at the airport to take flight in the United States as Rage quickly leaves and he noticed that Retsu has his own potential in him.

DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE
"Looks like yer about as helpless as a weak kid, ain't ya?" 
-Garuda while saving Drum from being assassinated before aiding his grandson, Rage.

Garuda returns in DDR EXTREME 2/STRIKE where he discovers the mafia organization is trying to assassinate the dance competitors and it was similar to the Eagle Eye. He and Naoki decides to sponsor the second EXTREME dance competition and serving as a superior to Rage and the group once again and this time Izam in not in the group which is written off the series after his last appearance in Party Collection.

Garuda became acquainted with the chairman of the recording company named Drum who is Bass' manager and the first target by the mafia organization and later rescue him from being assassinated. He realizes that this organization is different than the Eagle Eye. Meanwhile, he sends both Rage and Retsu to save Drum's partner Bass who were kidnapped by pirates led by J.C.

In the second EXTREME competition, where all the characters from EXTREME 2/STRIKE, Ultramix series and the Universe series are competing in the dance contest. By the time Team Burning is on the finals against Team Drum and Bass. Liana saw the sniper from the mafia organization is targeting him as she tackles Garuda to safety as it shot her at the back which causes both teams ended up in draw and both became the winners in the competition. As a last resort, Garuda decides to put an end of the mafia organization as he sends Rage and the group for the final mission to infiltate the mafia organization once and for all and Drum gave him the map where the enemy's base is located and finally Garuda gives Rage his communicator which is upgraded with a GPS and water resistance.        

After the fall of the mafia organization, Retsu is finally graduated in EMTI as Train is now the class president of the student council and Garuda and the other staff are having the round of applause. Afterwards, Retsu finally departs in the United State to strike on his own and Garuda was contacted by Afro and he tells him that the protectors of DDR City is no more finally disbands the group to let the others to take their normal lives and set Robo2001 free and flies in space.

DDR SuperNOVA movie and TV series
"Something tells me that these adversaries are tryin' to wreck havoc in New York."
-Garuda after sensing the enemy's prescence in New York City.

In DDR SuperNOVA which takes place one year and three months after EXTREME 2/STRIKE, Garuda made his brief appearance in the movie where he is the chief scientist observing the lab scientists are making robots and gadgets and the person who calls Rage from his cellphone. 

He later appears in the TV series, He was sponsored the SuperNOVA dance competition which is been cancelled during the movie after an enemy strrike. Garuda knows this competition is no longer to have pairs but a solo dance performance. He also saw Retsu aids his friends from being attacked but maintains his cold and demeanor towards Rage. After the dance competition and defeats the terrorists who terrorizing the city, Garuda visits as one of the sponsors where Afro finally takes the oath during opening ceremony of his town called Disco Town.

DDR SuperNOVA2
"I'm not gonna let ya beat me, you whack a doodle... Don't ya dare hurtin' my friend, Afro?" 
-Garuda as he wrestles the brute during the illegal tag team wrestling competition.

In SuperNOVA2, Garuda provides as an adviser to Rage when he actually contacts him from his communicator about the danger happened in Disco Town.  
  
The second SuperNOVA competition was sponsored by another organization who is actually Garuda's former lab scientist named Riko Kishio who founded his organization called the Heartless and the mastermind who assassinates directly to their victims and stealing Emi's winning robot creation named Consent Be-fU and creates an imposter robot named Consent Kyo-fU.

In the episode "The Man Amongst the Men" Garuda tries to save Afro after he's been abducted by one of Riko's henchmen tries to fight them in a tag team wrestling match. Rage and Retsu tries to save both of them and Garuda is able to hold his own against the wrestlers which Afro does not want to fight. Garuda was later worn out when his adversary is strong but fully possessed with an egyptian mask. Rage arrives to save him and fights him. With this, Retsu manages to unmask the perpetrator and Rage destroys the mask with a powerful punch.

After the dance competition, He later aids Rage and the group with a support from Emi's friends who helped her win in the robot competition. Emi manages to find her robot only to be intercepted by Consent Kyo-fU and Consent Be-fU was activated and causes the brawl. Garuda finally confronts Riko for all the mess he had made and seeing his organization is about to fall. Riko then activates his machine to release Dark Zukin a shadow robot to destroy in it's path. Garuda angrily beats Riko and they have a intense brawl while Rage confronts the Dark Zukin which he manages to beat the robot in time.

After the fall of Heartless and Riko was arrested, Garuda returns in Japan and knowing that Rage is already grown and can do whatever he wants to do.

DDR X
"Reiji, stop being so lack of incompetence? If you take me seriously with yer blows. You need to improve yer fighting skills. You have to refined yer fighting style as long as yer enemies are much stronger than you."
-Garuda to Rage during their spar in the battle similation room.

In DDR X, Garuda's image appeared in Rage's communicator early in the season until he appears in the fifth episode where he goes to the robot exhibit in Washington D.C and informs his grandson about the organization called X-Pac. He demonstrates his fighting abilities towards Julio who mastered the art of Jiu-Jitsu as he defeats him in sparring match.  Later, he discovers the robot from medieval times named Louis-Concent III was alive and activated who wanted to explore the world. Later on in the U.S. Military battle similation room where the federal agents are trained heavily in hand to hand combat. He tests his grandson Rage to fend off against his enemies until he confronts him to fight in a fair play. He manages to beat Rage and trying to give some advice as Rage manages to defeat him in another round. Although, Garuda greatly loses his stamina as he collapsed in exhaustion making Rage takes him to the hospital.

Therefore after his recovery with the help of Queen Zukin's magic, he made an radio type: Sound wave Blaster where it creates a blast of soundwaves where Afro uses to perform their dance moves against the live giant octopus sushis which is made by Sushi Bob to shrink them back to normal food. After shrinking the live octopus sushis back to normal food. When Sushi Bob attempts to flee, he was distracted by Zero who shows his aloof personality to him as Rage manages to defeat him pulling combo with his punches and one kick and delivers a powerful kick knocking him down in the process as his tooth falls off.

In MAX Carnival before his leave in Japan, he tours both Louis Concent-III and Queen Zukin in the carnival where Rage is working with his takoyaki business. He was then save the robot from being attacked as he fend off most of his opponents when trying to kill the robot. However, Garuda becomes tired due to lack of stamina. Rage saves him as both manage to fend off as Retsu and Emi aids them to help him. After the incident, Garuda finally tastes the takoyaki that his grandson was making and he reminisces the day where he founded his institute, EMTI and Rage's father's sake business where he formerly works as his part-time job. Garuda tells Rage that his parents are worried for him and knowing that he has his own business in Disco Town. Rage happily replies that he wanted to act like he is who actually makes his own business and Garuda was proud of him and wishing that his business is successful while Retsu, Emi and Gus are watching their conversation.

He later reappears to help Rage and the group to put to stop against the X-Pac organization from making chaos in the whole country in the United States.

DDR X2
"Wow I've never seen this robot before? Where did she come from?" 
-Garuda found Rinon in the crash site before he takes her to his tower for repairs.

Garuda appears in DDR X2 where he spends his time working his inventions in his tower and in EMTI. After hearing that Rage, Retsu and Emi are back in Japan to visit him. Garuda is also pleased to see Rage's new haircut after he impresses Emi to make him good looking while in the United States. He with Rage and Retsu went to the crash site after they heard the news of the meteor crashed near in the mountain side in the outskirts in Tokyo. The trio discovered it was actually a white miniature female robot with a green visor on her face and a red violet hair. After Garuda repairs the robot, she finally awaken and introduces herself as Rinon and she mistakes Garuda as her "master" who awaits his orders. Garuda realizes that she's from a different planet as her master has the same resemblance as him. He then decides to let Rinon stay in his tower and orders her to make an espionage to Rage and the others which she loves to spy on anyone. Later she also warns that a clone of herself plans to invade the Earth as she called it as Replicants. Garuda realizes the Replicants are the replica versions of Rinon and plan to invade Tokyo. Rinon tells him that these clones led by the "Dark One" which turns out to be Dark Rinon. In the filler episode, Garuda returns in EMTI and to discover another Konsento robot is damaging his laboratory. He easily discovers the last konsento model named Victory-Concent who tries to wreck his facility that mistakes this as an evil organization. Victory-Concent ends up being defeated by Rage and Garuda tells him that his lab is not an evil organization and finally repairs him in return.

When the Replicants begin to invade in Tokyo, Garuda manages to beat them while he protects Rinon and later aids Rage and the group to stop the invasion. After defeating the replicants, Dark Rinon finally emerges and tells them that this fight is not yet over and she takes flight along with the replicants in space. Garuda realizes that the invasion is not yet over and wants to stop them and Rinon decides to stay with him as she calls him as "Master Garuda" due to his similar resemblance to her master and Garuda gladly smiles and forms a friendly bond with her.

DDR X3
"Long time no see, Dread and Janet. It reminds me the two of ya helpin' me deal against Wyvern."

In DDR X3, this season continues after DDR X2 where he reunites both Dread-Snake and Janet in their X3 appearance instead of their previous appearance in the 2ndMIX remake of DDR X3 VS 2ndMIX.

He and Afro formed a group called "DDR Global Protectors" A highly group of defense force is to protect the Earth from being invaded by their adversaries in different planets. His grandson, Rage is appointed again as the leader and his friends who formerly helps him in his missions reunited together to fight against Dark Rinon and the Replicants.
    
Garuda later sponsors an EX dance competition to lure Dark Rinon and the Replicants in his trap. When Rage manages to defeat Dark Rinon in an extra encore stage, Dark Rinon creates a dent of dark mist causing the whole world to be engulf in the mist as Rinon manages to repel with her energy barrier.

"Rinon, I don't want you to go. You sacrifice for me. You're the only person who inspired us to save our planet."

With this, everyone infiltrates the Darkness Space Dome which is Dark Rinon's main space shuttle. Garuda and Victory-Concent fight off the replicants as they let Rage to find Dark Rinon.

After the replicants invasion, everyone are gathered to see Rinon leave and Garuda does not wanted to leave. Rinon tells him that her mission is completed and she will never forget him as she removes her visor showing her blue eyes and she smiles to him and putting her visor back on and she takes flight back into space. When everyone watches her leave, Garuda cries in anguish and becomes saddened to her departure. Rage tries to cheer him up and he tells him that there's more people are here to care for and Garuda agrees knowing that he still have his family and relatives is with him.

DDR 2013 movie
"I have a bad feelin' about this? Looks like another invasion is about attack again. Not just replicants but UFOs.
-Garuda while sensing another invasion.

Garuda appears in DDR2013 which takes place after DDR X3 and the plot is based on DDR Dance Wars.

Garuda spends his days in his normal activities in his tower. He sensed the enemy presence knowing that another invasion is coming to Earth. When he heard the news about the alien invasion, he immediately calls his grandson Rage from his communicator and tells him to regroup in EMTI.

As they assemble the group, Garuda created the most powerful invention the sound type: Radio Sound Laser Blaster where Gus is operating the songs as the DJ, Afro and the other dancers are dancing with the music that Gus is playing and Garuda activates the laser sound waves directly on the UFOs which they called as Unidentified Funky Objects and dancing is the only way to stop the UFOs.

When they fight the last fleet if UFOs after Emi is abducted by the aliens from the UFO which is later revealed to be Gideon's men. They manage to defeat the last fleet. Everyone is saddened at the expense of Emi's life which causes Rage angrily clenches his fists and cries in anguish at the death of his girlfriend.

Therefore, Garuda discovers that his grandson along with Retsu and Akira hijack another of his powerful invention the Rocket Space Jet 5000 to fly in space which makes him get angry. He becomes desperate to get a signal in order to contact Rage while Afro is with him.

"Well well if isn't Gideon. So yer responsible for makin' an alien invasion, eh? How about this, we're gonna take you down right back to Earth for yer another conviction. Reiji you deal with Gideon and Retsu you and Emi will disable the power reactor so that his robot will be malfunction and his space station is gonna self destruct by itself. Do it now, the three of you. I'm countin' on ya."
-Garuda tells Rage, Retsu and Emi to stop Gideon while hacking the systems in Gideon's space station.

When Rage, Retsu and Akira are in Gideon's space station, they manage to infiltrate the space station and Akira remains to stay in the space jet. With this, Both discovered that Emi was alive after she hits Retsu with a stun rod. Rage angrily scolds her from making him worried and she explains to them that Gideon is mastermind behind the UFO invasion.

Garuda finally gets the signal and finally receive the contact from Emi in Gideon's Space Station where Rage and Retsu is with him. He angrily scolds him for hijacking the space jet as Emi finally shows up much to their surprise that she's alive. She tells them that Gideon is behind the UFO invasion and the UFOs are the antagonistic aliens who were cloned from the aliens that they abducted by the lab scientists under him using the cloning technology.

Garuda finally understands of his grandson's motives in saving his girlfriend and knowing that Gideon had escaped in prison and takes revenge by invading the Earth using the cloned UFOs. He decides to turn the tides against Gideon as he managed to hack the systems in his space station where Gideon confronts the trio while piloting his robot. Garuda's voice can be heard when he hack the systems. He instructs Rage to defeat Gideon while Retsu and Emi will deactivate the power reactor to make his station will self destruct.

After the UFO invasion, Garuda along with Afro and the other dancers are happy to see Rage, Retsu, Emi and Akira are safely back to Earth and Gideon attempts to flee while they reunited. Rage noticed he's trying to escape only to be bumped by Garuda as he angrily states "You're not goin' anywhere, Gideon. Cause yer gonna pay for messin' the people's lives that we lived in and I will never forgive ya?" Garuda manages to knock Gideon with a straight punch to the face and was later taken in custody in his knocked out state.

Garuda is later seen lighting up the fireworks where Rage and the group are watching the fireworks display.

DDR 2014 movie and TV series
"Oh crap... what is this...?" 
-Garuda during his abduction from his new adversaries.

Garuda returns in DDR 2014 movie which is based on the latest actual game DDR 2013 and it's updates. He became the main catalyst behind his abduction which leads his grandson, Rage and the group to save him from their new adversaries. Afro replaced him to sponsor the second EX Competition where the main assailant would be in the dance competition as well. Afro also mentions to Rage that his grandfather have plenty of issues in his life and travels and knowing of his intellectual personality.

Rage discovers the video where he keeps it in his other office at the underground facility. He found out that one of his co-workers named Dulton Tranza was behind the kidnapping of his grandfather which makes him forced to save his life despite risking his own takoyaki business and his job as a back-up dancer. 

Garuda is later seen became brainwashed by Dulton to turn against Rage and the group which he attempts to kill his own grandson. Rage tries to avoid his fighting moves only to be restrain by both Retsu and Akira who manage to free him by removing the patch on his nape causing him to lose unconscious.

"Seems like you're global destruction is about to meet your end, Dulton."

Garuda then helps Rage and the group to thwart Dulton's plan is to create a global war using his robot creations as he and Dulton are fighting in his office as he accidentally destroys his control allowing his grandson, Rage to stop it.

After the incident, Garuda decides to put his issues to rest and he gives his knowledge and vigilantism towards his grandson, Rage.

"Rinon, you came back?"

In the TV series, Garuda continues to work as the Director and Chief Scientist of EMTI and also visits Afro's business company, Brand New Funk Fashion. He discovers Rinon is back on Earth and finally reunited with her who tells her to find the six orbs within the places in Japan.

Garuda later discovers that the six orbs that she wanted to find for him are used to merge Rinon into their previous enemy in DDR X3 as Dark Rinon as he informs Rage and the group to keep the orbs from Rinon and also discovers Dark Rinon's new spaceship as several Replicants are invading the Earth using the machine called Replicant D-Ignition. He realizes that Rinon is completely brainwashed by her own target.
